A photograph from the Monday Night Football booth in Seattle has sparked speculation among fans that tensions between Troy Aikman and Joe Buck remain palpable.
The ESPN broadcasting pair appeared together for the traditional broadcast opening of the Bears' 34-17 victory over the Seahawks at Lumen Field, but an image captured well ahead of kickoff revealed a markedly different arrangement.
Aikman was spotted enjoying a beverage while gazing at the field from one side of the booth, whereas Buck occupied the far end with considerable distance separating them. Seahawks supporter Mark Harnes captured the moment from the stands and shared it on X, captioning it, "Aikman hates Buck lol." It comes just days after the explosive quotes from their heated ESPN argument emerged.

Viewers claimed they sensed the unease even through their television sets, with one observer noting the tension was thick enough to slice, while another highlighted Aikman's apparent avoidance of eye contact.
This buzz comes on the heels of a reported dispute in Los Angeles last month, initially disclosed by Front Office Sports.

As detailed by The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, the confrontation began when Buck addressed Aikman regarding apparent friction between the two, with Aikman reportedly expressing frustration over his stalled contract negotiations with ESPN.
Marchand's account indicated that Buck challenged Aikman, "You are not going to f------ talk to me?" before clarifying, "I'm not the reason you don't have a contract."
The contract situation sits at the heart of the matter. ESPN handed Buck a six-year, $108 million extension back in September, just two days after their Week 1 Monday Night Football broadcast of Chiefs-Broncos pulled in 23.2 million viewers - the network's strongest Week 1 audience since acquiring the package in 2006.
The deal ties Buck to ESPN through 2031. Aikman, meanwhile, is in the final year of a five-year, $90 million contract, with ESPN stating it will not publicly address talent contracts before February's Super Bowl. Aikman revealed on Richard Deitsch's podcast last month that he had anticipated the matter being resolved far sooner.
"I thought something would be done prior to the start of this season," Aikman said. "I've never gone into a last year of contract ever since I signed with the Dallas Cowboys. So, I thought that it would be done. It's not. When it might get done, if it gets done, is anybody's guess, and it's just not something that I'm really putting a lot of energy into."
Aikman also expressed his desire to continue working alongside Buck, responding "100 percent" when asked. Buck, speaking on 97.5 The Fanatic, said he hopes the situation gets resolved and referred to Aikman as a brother, though he noted that contract matters are handled independently.
"I legitimately love the guy like a brother," Buck said. "We're basically the same age. I'm 57, he's 59. We both been through divorce, we both are girl dads. There's been a lot of, 25 years, you're sharing a lot of life together."
In any case, Buck and Aikman's behavior toward each other hasn't gone unnoticed.
