Deny, who was 69, died on Monday, May 25. His daughters confirmed the news of his death in a statement, according to French outletTF1. "It is with deep emotion that we announce the passing of Pierre Deny, which occurred this Monday following a sudden and severe case ofALS."

Deny's most recent roles were in the French seriesCamping ParadisandLe Fil d'Ariane, and he starred in three episodes ofEmily in Paris.

In seasons 3 and 4, Deny played Louis de Léon, father to Nicolas (Paul Forman) and CEO of JVMA.

Actress Sylvie Vartan shared atributeto Deny on Instagram on May 26. "I shared some great moments with him on stage in Isabelle Mergault's play. He was a generous actor and a sensitive and funny man," she wrote. "My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this painful time."

Deny began his acting career in the '80s, and was best known for his roles in French TV series includingSous Le Soleil,Une femme d'honneurandCinq soeurs.

Prior toEmily in Paris, he starred in over 300 episodes of the French soap operaDemain Nous Appartient, from its premiere in 2017 through 2023.
